Accounts & Bookkeeping
(Part-Time)
Supporting Orchards Estate Agency & Orchards In-House Repairs
8–12 hours per week | Ideally spread over 2–3 days
We’re looking for a reliable, organised and detail focused Accounts & Bookkeeping professional to support both Orchards Estate Agency and Orchards In-House Repairs. This is a part-time role, ideal for someone who enjoys the structure of financial work and takes pride in keeping accounts precise, up to date and well organised.
As a growing independent business with multiple revenue streams, we need someone who can manage day to day bookkeeping confidently while also helping us improve our financial visibility and decision making.
What the role involves
This is a varied bookkeeping and accounts support role that includes:
Chasing invoice payments and managing aged receivables
Reconciling accounts in Xero (including multi-entity reconciliation)
Processing bill payments and ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time
Raising invoices for both the estate agency and repairs division
Producing simple cash-flow forecasts and financial summaries
Monitoring profitability across the business and specific projects
Assisting with VAT returns
Supporting payroll where required
Keeping financial records organised, accurate and compliant
Highlighting any irregularities, missing information or overdue accounts
You’ll be working closely with management, so clarity, accuracy and proactive communication are essential.
What we are looking for
You’ll be a strong fit if:
You have experience with bookkeeping and accounts support
You’re confident using Xero (or similar accounting software)
You enjoy structure, detail and getting things “right first time”
You can organise your workload independently
You’re comfortable chasing payments professionally
You’re reliable and consistent with deadlines
You can spot errors or missing information quickly
You communicate clearly with both internal staff and external suppliers
Experience with VAT, payroll, invoicing, or multi-entity accounting is a bonus, but not essential if you have strong fundamentals.
Who this won’t suit
This role requires accuracy, consistency and a genuine comfort with numbers. It won’t suit everyone, and it’s better to be upfront about that. You may find this position difficult or frustrating if:
You struggle with attention to detail or often make small errors in figures or data entry.
You don’t enjoy repetitive tasks such as reconciliation or invoice processing.
You find it uncomfortable chasing late payments or having straightforward conversations about money.
You prefer fast-paced or reactive work, rather than structured, methodical responsibilities.
You rely on others to remind you of deadlines, or you tend to fall behind without close oversight.
You feel unsure navigating accounting software, particularly Xero or similar systems.
You don’t enjoy working independently or managing your own workload.
You’re not comfortable flagging inconsistencies or highlighting when something doesn’t look right.
You want guaranteed fixed hours every day this role requires flexibility over 2–3 short working days.
This position suits someone who enjoys keeping things organised, accurate and financially tight. If you take pride in a clean set of accounts and the satisfaction of everything balancing perfectly, you’ll enjoy this work and make a big impact here.
